Job Description of Design Engineer \u2013 Automotive Parts
\n– Lead cross functional teams in problem solving for all performance, appearance, assembly and fit\/function issues of new launch products
\n– Measure metal stamping parts using different measuring equipment such as gauges, calipers, micrometers, etc.
\n– Design prototype parts to understand root cause of production or performance defects
\n– Analyze CMM and laser scan data to understand and correct assembly or work ability issues
\n– Create schedule and track progress for federal and customer validation testing
\n– Conduct root cause analysis and implemented countermeasures in response to bench test and durability testing failures
\n– Create prototypes to test any proposed tuning or design changes
\n– Perform gauge R&R and dimensional capability studies on parts and final assemblies
\n– Provide continuous improvement feedback during design reviews using lessons learnt from past launches
\n– Other job duties are assigned as required<\/p>\n
Job Requirements of Design Engineer – Automotive Parts:
\n– Bachelor Degree with Engineering filed
\n– At least 2 years of Design Experience in the automotive industry
\n– CATIA V5 experience is preferred
\n– Strong analytical skills both qualitative and quantitative research
\n– Excellent communication skills
\n– Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
\n– Organized and time management skills
\n– Some travel is required including internationally (25%)
\nWhile performing the duties of this job you may be required to intermittently sit, stand, walk, lift up to 25 pounds, lift in excess of 25 pounds with a lift assist, climb stairs, use hands to handle or feel parts\/equipment, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend at the waist, talk and hear. You may also be required to use close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision
